The Wayanad District Panchayat has started a new program to help students who completed the Higher Secondary Equivalency Course continue their education and earn a degree. This initiative, the first of its kind in Kerala, aims to support 100 students every year. The program, launched in partnership with the Literacy Mission and Sree Narayana Guru Open University, provides financial support to make higher education more affordable. It ensures that students who restarted their education through the equivalency program can pursue a degree without worrying about money.Under this scheme, the district panchayat will cover part of the tuition fees for students enrolling in Sree Narayana Guru Open University. General category students will get 50% of their fees paid, Scheduled Caste students 75%, and Scheduled Tribe students 100%. Students will also have access to both online and offline classes, as well as opportunities to learn from experts during interactive sessions.
