To leverage the potential of the state’s tourism sector and attract visitors, KSRTC has launched the innovative "Royal View" double-decker bus service in Munnar, a popular tourist destination in Idukki district. Known as one of Kerala's most significant tourist spots, Munnar attracts numerous visitors, including international tourists. Through this new initiative, travelers can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of Munnar’s misty hills and tea plantations via a journey on a fully glass-paneled double-decker bus. The KSRTC bus RN765 (KL 15 9050) has been redesigned under the name "Royal View" with transparent glass panels on the roof and body. To enhance the travel experience, the bus is equipped with colorful lighting. It accommodates 38 passengers on the upper deck and 12 on the lower deck, allowing a total of 50 travelers. Additional facilities in the bus include essential mobile charging points, a music system, and a public information system. Passengers are also provided with drinking water, snacks, and beverages during their journey. The launch of this service in Munnar follows the success of two open double-decker services introduced in Thiruvananthapuram and the double-decker services in Kochi, which received excellent public response. Initially, KSRTC operated double-decker bus services in Munnar during election awareness campaigns, covering routes from the Munnar KSRTC depot to Signal Point, Chokramudi, Anayirankal, and the Botanical Garden. These services were well-received by tourists. Building on this success, KSRTC has now introduced the permanent "Royal View" double-decker bus service to boost the tourism sector further. This initiative is expected to strengthen Kerala's tourism industry and enhance the overall travel experience for visitors.
